The First Blog Post
My First Blog Post!
Dear friends,
This is my first ever endeavor to connect with my friends through blog writing. I'd love to interact with all ELT practitioners through this blog. There are many unsung heroes, who experiment in an innovative way to help their learners (dear ones) learn English language. Their experiments are like helicopter shots (M S Dhoni). I admit that they are not copy book style shots, but results matter; not style. Many such experiments are not shared, out of fear of acceptability by experts.
I've seen many theories, methods becoming a big failure in our context. I do respect all international ELT experts. Their theories, principles, methods, methodologies are successful in a particular environment. I'm not sure, if the state of Maharashtra has practised all those theories, principles, methods and methodologies considering their suitability in our environment. I don't say, they are a total failure. They have been successful, but only in limited conditions and in a particular environment. Wherever they are successful, they're fully successful. They create a perfect Englishman!
I think of the majority of the demographic Maharashtra, where these theories, principles, methods and methodologies fail to cater the needs of the masses. They are successful in creating only a handful of successful users of English language. Especially, in the rural Maharashtra, where the social, family, classroom settings are not conducive to practise the established theories. There, the practices evolved by the teachers are successful, though, prima facie, they seem to be crude. They're not the part of any established theory or method. But these practices are successful in catering the needs of majority of learners. Thanks to Pragat Shaikshanik Maharashtra, which evolved various new successful methodologies which were unrecognized. The results have made them take cognizance of.
I believe, there are many such successful practices in ELT which are successful but don't become a part of the state, national and international level conferences. I want, that this platform should become a guaranteed platform for those practitioners to share their experiments without any fear, because this will be the platform of amateurs. Let's shade hesitancy and share freely with many people like us from our fraternity. We'll see how our Neo-practices become recognized and successful in our conditions and environment.
I'm committed, as a professional, to study the national and international standard practices. I'm committed to share with you all those theories, to adapt in out conditions. I don't claim that I'm the expert in ELT. But, I'm committed to browse and search the national and international trends. Let's see if they suit our needs. If they suit, will adopt, otherwise we'll adapt.
Dear friends, don't underestimate yourself. If you're successful with your so called crude methodologies, don't hesitate to share with others. Do share on this platform so that our brothers and sisters from out fraternity will be benefited by your experiments. Please don't forget to share the background of your learners and the success rate.
Do share on this platform. Your responses will encourage me to continue with this blog.
Thank you.
Yours,
Ujjwal
